Will drones find their place in European ATS?

The drone is now part of the aeronautical landscape: it has become an important vector in military aviation, it has become a fixture at the foot of our Christmas trees, and it is used daily for aerial photography, image analysis and cinematography.

The next two challenges are clear: flying commercial missions over long distances and transporting people. Many constraints remain to be overcome, and today we're going to focus on one of the main ones: integrating UAVs into the ATC system in the already very busy environment of European airspace.

Our speakers, Patrick AMAR and Jean-Bernard BOURA, will answer a number of questions:

- What are the main constraints on drone operations in European airspace?

- How must the system evolve to accept drones?

- When will drones become a full-fledged component of European air transport?

- How can the country overflown exercise its sovereignty when the drone can be controlled from thousands of kilometers away, from another country?

And, of course, the questions you'll be asking them live!

Speakers:

- Patrick AMAR (IENAC 88) is currently Director of the Drones Program at Eurocontrol, after having shared his career between the public service (DGAC, advisor to the Minister of Transport) and the private sector (Air France, El Al...). Also a professional airplane and helicopter pilot, he has a cross-disciplinary vision of air transport, which he will be sharing with us.

- Jean-Bernard BOURA (IENAC 92), began his career with Dassault Aviation and pursued it as a Falcon 7X captain before founding Pen Aviation in Malaysia, where he designed drone ecosystems dedicated to long-distance missions.

This first webinar of the Air Mobility Think Tank will take place on Tuesday 28th May from 6pm to 7.15pm. It will be hosted by Giulio GALLEGOS (MS APM 17) and Gilles GOMPERTZ (IENAC 85), in English, and will be a free exchange between the speakers.
